Good Friday

Each year, we transform our church auditorium into an immersive Good Friday experience for the whole family. The walk through usually takes about 15-25 minutes, depending on how much time you choose to spend at each scene.

On this self-guided tour, you will walk through the ancient scenes of Easter including the last supper living-room, the torn veil, and more. Your family will have an opportunity to learn about and take communion, to talk about the scenes and to grow in your understanding together.

This reflective time will inspire your senses and enrich your understanding of what Easter is all about and what God came to do for each and every one of us!

Roadside Clean Up (Adopt-a-Highway)
Feb

9:00 AM09:00

Roadside Clean Up (Adopt-a-Highway)

Atlee Church is hosting another Adopt-a-Highway cleanup on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  We need your help! We will be removing recycleable items and trash from local roadsides.

We will pick up recyclables in one bag, trash in another bag, and count the items on a paper form.  This way the items are already sorted for recycling vs. trash for disposal.

Counting of the items has a very special purpose.  We will enter the count and total weight into a worldwide trash cleanup database named CleanSwell, which is run by the Ocean Conservancy in the USA.  In Atlee's first road cleanup, last November 2022, we entered 4938 items weighing 612 pounds, into Clean Swell.  To date, Clean Swell lists 350+ million pounds of trash collected by more than 17 million volunteers worldwide.  And Atlee Church is a part of that!

We will meet at the Mechanicsville campus on Saturday, February 24th, at 9 am.  Everyone will receive instructions for collecting trash safely, a safety vest, gloves, trash bags, trash picker sticks, water, and a clipboard and pen with the counting form for each team.

We will load all the filled trash bags onto a truck and trailer.  Mark will weigh them at home and take them to the Verdi Lane Transfer station.  Everyone should be headed home by about noon.

Late winter is a good time to pick up trash.  The temperature is cool and the plants and critters are down.

So come on out for a nice morning time to clean up God’s creation to make it as pretty as we can for Him and for others to enjoy.
