Adopt-A-Highway
Nov

12:00 PM12:00

Adopt-A-Highway

Atlee Church is hosting another Adopt-a-Highway cleanup on SUNday, AUGUST 18.  We need your help! We will be removing recycleable items and trash from local roadsides.

We will pick up recyclables in one bag, trash in another bag, and count the items on a paper form.  This way the items are already sorted for recycling vs. trash for disposal.

Counting of the items has a very special purpose.  We will enter the count and total weight into a worldwide trash cleanup database named CleanSwell, which is run by the Ocean Conservancy in the USA.  In Atlee's first road cleanup, last November 2022, we entered 4938 items weighing 612 pounds, into Clean Swell.  To date, Clean Swell lists 350+ million pounds of trash collected by more than 17 million volunteers worldwide.  And Atlee Church is a part of that!

We will meet at the Mechanicsville campus, after church, on Sunday, November 17th at 12 pm.  Everyone will receive instructions for collecting trash safely, a safety vest, gloves, trash bags, trash picker sticks, water, and a clipboard and pen with the counting form for each team. This is a part of Atlee Action Day

We will load all the filled trash bags onto a truck and trailer.  Mark will weigh them at home and take them to the Verdi Lane Transfer station.

So come on out for a great time to clean up God’s creation to make it as healthy as we can for Him and for others to enjoy.

Faith In Flow Yoga

Faith In Flow Yoga

Faith in Flow: A Christian Yoga Experience

Join us for Faith in Flow, a unique Christian-centered yoga class designed to center your body, mind, and spirit on Jesus. While traditional yoga emphasizes inner peace, Faith in Flow leads you to the true source of peace—your relationship with Christ.

Through gentle and mindful movement and prayer, you’ll be encouraged to deepen your connection with the Holy Spirit, focusing on God’s Word as Scriptures are read throughout the practice. This sacred time offers you the opportunity to unwind, reflect, and grow spiritually.

Please bring a yoga mat, a towel, and a bottle of water, and wear comfortable clothing.

Class Dates:

  • October 27

  • November 9

  • November 23

This is a no-cost, bi-monthly offering from our church, open to all who wish to connect with God in a peaceful, prayerful environment. Whether you're new to yoga or experienced, Faith in Flow welcomes you to refresh and recharge with us.

NOTES FROM THE INSTRUCTOR:

1. There is no need to wear any specific "athletic" gear. You can wear anything that feels comfortable to you and allows you to move freely. For me, it'll mostly be sweatpants and long shirts. Legging, joggers, t-shirts, sweatshirts- all are ok! You will take off your shoes during yoga, and most folks also take off their socks so you can grip better to the mat but it's not required.

2. You will want to have a yoga mat - and any kind is fine! If you don't have a yoga mat, you can get them from many local stores! They are at Target, Wal-Mart, and even Five Below to name a few! And, of course, Amazon. Everything is on Amazon

3. You may want to bring a water bottle and a towel. Water is always a good thing, and the towel is so that if you have sensitive knees, you can use that to pad the floor if your mat isn't enough on it's own. If you are planning to pack a bag to keep for small group, a journal, pen/pencil, and an old belt or tie may be good to throw in there, too! The journal is just because it never hurts to have something to write with and on, and the old tie/belt is because they can sometimes help you get a better stretch! Again, none of those are needed, but they are all good things to consider!

This practice is going to be aimed at being really relaxing! The aim is that we all get a moment to be quiet and still so that we can hear and connect to The Light that God has sent to be with each of us: The Holy Spirit.

Please enter in through the double doors at the top of the hill.

Back to School Food Drive

School is back in session!

Let's make sure we stock the classrooms of Georgetown School with snacks for the kids that need them. Sometimes just having a snack is all a kid needs to learn better and perform better in school.

We are also starting back up our Atlee Action Pack weekend food program for local elementary aged children in need. Donate ASAP so we can get off to a running start and show these kids that they are loved and cared for by their community.

The Atlee Action Packs program began in 2013 with a mission to help prevent weekend hunger and provide nutrition for Hanover County students in need.

Atlee Action Packs are bags of food that include 20 child-friendly items that are simple to prepare and eat. Each Atlee Action Pack provides a student with six, non-perishable meals and four snacks to be eaten on the weekends throughout the school year.

IMPORTANT DROPOFF INFORMATION:

From August 11th until September 15th, Atlee Church’s Mechanicsville campus will be collecting food items for Hanover County students in need. All items can be dropped off at the front doors, during regular office hours (M-Th, 9a - 5p), on the cart.

Good Friday

Each year, we transform our church auditorium into an immersive Good Friday experience for the whole family. The walk through usually takes about 15-25 minutes, depending on how much time you choose to spend at each scene.

On this self-guided tour, you will walk through the ancient scenes of Easter including the last supper living-room, the torn veil, and more. Your family will have an opportunity to learn about and take communion, to talk about the scenes and to grow in your understanding together.

This reflective time will inspire your senses and enrich your understanding of what Easter is all about and what God came to do for each and every one of us!
