Atlee Community Church’s music team is headed up by our music director, Ross Wright.  We hope that you will find the content on this page helpful in answering any questions you may have about the music team.  If you are interested in participating in the music program, please feel free to contact Ross directly by phone (804-730-3676) or email music@atleechurch.org, or simply fill out a Communicator Card which is attached to each program on Sunday morning.

General Information:

The music team is comprised solely of volunteer musicians and vocalists.  Atlee strives to be a church where artists can use their vocal and instrumental gifts to serve God, and help deliver the message of Jesus Christ through music.  Atlee is unique in that the music selections for each Sunday program are tailored around the message for the day.  We use songs from today’s music market in both secular and Christian forums.   In addition, musicians and vocalists are also used in our service called Focus on the first Sunday night of each month. 

Experience:

Generally speaking, we don’t require any experience with live performance.  Instrumentalist should be familiar with their instrument, and vocalists should be confident of their abilities.  If you are interested in serving with your musical ability, our music director, Ross Wright will be glad to meet with you one on one and discuss where you might fit in best.  A simple, impromptu evaluation session can be arranged to determine this.

Rehearsals:

For Sunday morning programs, the band practices on the Thursday night directly preceding the Sunday service, at 7pm. in the auditorium.  One week prior to the rehearsal, a CD and a chart for each song is provided for each musician and vocalists, so they may prepare for the rehearsal.  On Sunday morning the band and vocalists report for rehearsal at 7 am. 

Schedule:

The music team roster currently consist of about 40 volunteers.  Near the 15^th of each month an e-mail is sent out to each team member that is a musician, asking for available dates for the upcoming month.    Once the musicians have responded, the schedule is completed for the band each week, and sent back out to the team.  Vocalists are scheduled directly by the music director as the songs are selected for each service.
