“Share each other’s troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”

Galatians 6:2

Jesus Christ modeled Community Care for the church by attending to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those who sought after him.  The Church is called upon to care for those around us who are troubled, grieving or in crisis.  At Atlee Community Church, we call this the ministry of “Community Care.”  The primary vehicle by which Community Care is provided is our Small Groups.  Everyone who actively participates in a Small Group knows that in their time of difficulty, the members of their Small Group will do their utmost to provide the support and encouragement they need.

For those who have not joined a Small Group, we have teams of people who are able to respond depending on the need.  These teams are outlined below:

There are times in our lives where the struggles of life overwhelm us and we don’t know where to turn.  Our Community Care pastor, Glenn Hawkins would like to know of your struggle or loss.  He will personally follow up with you while keeping your issue confidential.  Contact him at glenn.hawkins@atleechurch.org

Community Care Teams

Grief Team – This team helps in time of mourning due to death or tragedy. While the pastoral staff conducts funerals, the Grief Team maintains contact with families through cards, phone calls, visits, meal preparation and other acts of kindness as needed. Grief Share, a grief support group, is an ongoing ministry of the Grief Team and is open to anyone that would like to attend.

Hospital Visitation Team – During emergencies or for major surgery, a member of our pastoral staff will visit if possible.  Otherwise, we call upon a member of our Hospital Visitation Team to visit persons not connected in a Small Group. These folks have been trained to be responsive to needs and to lead in prayer if so requested.

Hospitality Team – Some situations make meal preparation difficult.  The Hospitality team provides hot meals to families when tragedy strikes, during extended stays in the hospital or in times of grief.  We call upon this team only when meals are needed for those not connected in a Small Group.

Health-Bound Visitation Team – Sometimes a person’s health prevents them from active participation in the life of the church.  To keep these folks connected, we have established the Health-Bound Visitation Team.  A member of this team will visit in the home or assisted living facility as requested.

The KEY to the effectiveness of our Community Care teams is COMMUNICATION.  Please let us know if you have a need of the services of any of these teams by calling the church office at 730-3676 or by email at office@atleechurch.org.
