Music Director

(Part Time)

This leader should have a passion for both reaching the lost and helping believers experience worship.  The position requires a self-starter with a clear understanding and commitment to Atlee’s vision and values.  The music director should work well with people; have the spiritual gifts of music, and creative communication. Leadership, practical experience and skills in administration are important as well.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

I.                    Oversee music preparation and execution for seeker service:

A.     Music research

1)      Lyric sheets and CD of songs suggested for use

a)      Must be submitted to the Senior Pastor by Wednesday morning 12 days prior to the Sunday they are to be used

B.     Attend weekly programming meetings

1)      Participate with the Programming Team

C.     Coordinate music in such a way that it fits with other program elements

D.     Schedule musicians

E.      Maintain schedule of musicians

1)      Insure each weekend is covered

2)      Insure necessary volunteers are available to play and or sing

F.      Rehearsals

1)      Conduct every Thursday night

a)      Includes working with Technical Director and Program Director

i)        Insure stage is set

ii)       Insure Sound Engineer is present

iii)     Insure other aspects of upcoming service are able to make preparations

G.     Oversee music preparation and execution for other events

1)      Other duties as may be necessary and called upon from time to time

II.                 Team Building:

A.     Consistently recruit new members to the team

1)      Look for new members from all sources

2)      Respond to those that inquire from within

3)      Plan to audition and assess the ability of each person

a)      Insure person is capable of participation with the team

b)      Those deemed not capable should be handled with an attitude of love

B.     Provide spiritual leadership and direction for each member of the team, and the

      team as a whole

C.     Maintain and atmosphere of impartiality

1)      Do not develop loyalties to select persons or a group of people

D.     Have a plan to develop skills of players

1)      So those with less experience can become greater assets to the team

III.               Staff relations, coordination/cooperation with other leaders, personal life:

A.     Model and support church’s Vision and Core Values

B.     Keep staff informed of projects and challenges

C.     Attend staff meetings and functions

D.     Provide assistance to pastors as needed

E.      Protect the unity of church and pray for church leaders

F.      Keep reputation and relationships in harmony with God’s Word

G.     Commitment to family relations and healthy pace of life

IV.              Ministry Goals

A.     Establish Ministry goals

B.     Implement a plan to meet the goals

V.                 Establish Ministry Budget

A.     Submit an annual budget to the Director of Administration

B.     Maintain ministry expenses within budget

VI.              Continue education in ministry field

A.     Attend conferences and/or classes

VII.            Office Hours

Tuesdays          9:30 PM – 12:30 PM

Thursdays         5:00 PM –   9:00 PM

Sundays           6:45 AM –11:30 AM

Other               Hours should calculate to be 20-25 hours/week
