Drama Director
(Part Time Position)
The primary function of the drama
director is to provide a drama for each Seeker Service
that is theme related, well rehearsed, performed with
excellence, and packaged to fit with other seeker
service material. In addition to Seeker Services dramas
are often requested for special conferences and events.
In order to achieve these goals, the drama director must
have vision, people skills, and the ability to teach,
lead, cast roles, direct, enlist help, and encourage and
motivate people. The Drama Director will report directly
to the Program Director.
I.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Program Director and other
leadership concerning the best topic and tone for each
Seeker Service.
- Research available scripts.
- Choose a drama based upon topic, tone, clarity or
message, and availability of actors.
- Develop and write scripts from time to time.
- Cast parts.
- Get
scripts to actors.
- Coordinate rehearsal time with actors.
- Direct rehearsals.
- Supervise the obtaining of props and costumes.
- Design, build, and stage the
sets ready for production.
- Direct rehearsal on Sunday morning.
- Coordinate with technical staff on lighting, sound
effects, and needed sound equipment.
- Recruit and train support staff in areas of coaching,
casting, props, etc.
- Recruit actors.
- Train actors.
- Lead and encourage the Drama
Team as a small group.
- Attend weekly programming meetings.
II. Staff relations, coordination and cooperation
with other leaders, personal life:
- Model
and support church’s vision and core values.
- Keep staff informed of projects and challenges.
- Attend staff meetings and functions.
- Provide assistance to
pastors as needed.
- Protect the unity of
church and pray for church leaders.
- Reputation and
relationships.
- Commitment to family
relations and healthy pace of life.
