Director of Student Ministries

This leader should have a passion for reaching students (middle school and high school) for Christ and helping them grow in their faith.  This leader should also have a desire to help believers become active, participating members of the body of Christ through the use of their spiritual gifts.  The position requires a self-starter with spiritual gifts such as evangelism, leadership, shepherding, and practical experience in administration and team building. 

This staff position will work under the supervision of the senior pastor

I.                       Direct student ministry consistent with church vision and core values:

A.   Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of regularly scheduled seeker/outreach student events.

B.   Develop and implement a system of small groups for spiritual growth and discipleship development.

C.   Provide opportunities for students to be involved in service and ministry through gift discovery, service in the church, and mission opportunities.

D.   Submit, maintain, and implement the Student Ministries’ budget.

E.   Develop, train, and encourage an army of volunteer leaders.

F.   Provide additional programming for parents of students

1.      Sufficient communication with parents

2.      Advance planning

G.  Promote student ministry events through printed materials and the church web site

II.                     Staff relations, coordination/cooperation with other leaders, personal life:

A.  Model and support church’s vision and core values

B.  Keep staff informed of projects and challenges

C.  Attend staff meetings and functions

D.  Provide assistance to pastors as needed

E.  Protect the unity of church and pray for church leaders

F.  Keep reputation and relationships in harmony with God’s Word

G.  Commitment to family relations and healthy pace of life

III.                    Other Duties:

A.  Participate in administrative functions.

B.  Volunteer team leadership and coordination.

C.  Occasional teaching and/or speaking in services.
